UpQuantVal is a pioneering three-year initiative supported by the Interreg Upper Rhine program. Bringing together 19 partners—including research institutes, universities, and startups—from Germany, France, and Switzerland, the project aims to boost cross-border collaboration in quantum computing, sensing and enabling technologies to create an integrated cross-border regional ecosystem.


Establishing a Quantum Innovation Hub in the Upper Rhine Valley

UpQuantVal unites 19 partners from Germany, France, and Switzerland, including:

  • 5 research organizations
  • 4 companies
  • 3 associations and private entities
  • 3 regional and national Swiss funding bodies

Together, these partners support education, research, and infrastructure development to promote long-term cross-border collaboration. By connecting stakeholders across the full value chain the project established the Upper Rhine Valley as a excellence hub in quantum sciences and technologies at the heart of Europe.

Our Actions

We are driving quantum innovation through:

  • Strategic development, ensuring a solid foundation for sustainable quantum technologies.
  • Cross-border and intersectoral collaboration, connecting researchers, industry, and policymakers.
  • Human capital development, fostering education and training for future quantum experts.
  • Outreach and engagement, raising awareness and building a strong quantum ecosystem.
  • Communication and dissemination, sharing knowledge and promoting research impact.
