On October 1st, Rosario Riso joined Guido Pupillo’s lab as a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions Postdoctoral Fellow. His research will focus on microwave shielding of ultracold polar molecules.
At CESQ, Rosario will investigate how external microwave fields can be used to control interactions and collisions between ultracold molecules. The aim? To find ways to suppress unwanted short-range collisions and losses. In time, this could help pave the way towards stable molecular systems for quantum technologies.
Before joining us, Rosario worked in Henrik Koch’s group at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) in Trondheim, Norway, where he focused on theoretical and computational chemistry. In particular, he studied strong light–matter coupling, quantum dynamics and the optimisation of quantum gates in Rydberg atoms. From February to July 2025, he was also a visiting researcher at our centre, in Guido’s team.
