Tom van Meer, new PhD student in Johannes Schachenmayer group

23.10.26

We are pleased to welcome Tom, who joined the group of Johannes Schachenmayer on October 1st to explore new approaches to simulating quantum circuits.

Before arriving in Strasbourg, Tom completed his Master’s degrees in Physics and Astronomy and Mathematics at the University of Amsterdam. His PhD project, entitled “Entanglement-optimized quantum circuit simulations”, focuses on developing new unravelling strategies to simulate noisy quantum circuits by optimizing their entanglement properties. The project is funded by the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) cofunded by the Gen-Q programme.

We look forward to the exciting research ahead and wish him a warm welcome to CESQ!
